Faced with a white-hot real estate market, renters are losing confidence they will ever own a home.

On average only 43.3% of renters expect to own a home at some point in the future, down sharply from 51.6% in 2021, according to a Federal Reserve Bank of New York survey released on Monday...

RSK: As Tom Petty sang "What goes up....must come down". On the other hand, if you own residential income property you will do fine.

Ken Notes: At some point we have to start building smaller affordable homes. As long as the market stays strong we will not find builders willing to cut their margins, but when the market slows the holding costs will change the tide. Ask anyone holding McMansions in 2008.
