Want to Flee the City for Suburbia? Think Again

The 20th century is full of examples of the false promise of suburban living.

Walking the streets of San Francisco during these coronavirus days, you’ll see a sight rarer than Bigfoot: “for sale” and “for rent” signs.

Six months ago, I’d have texted pictures of them immediately to friends who were hoping to move. You had to act fast if you wanted a good slot on the list of dozens of potential buyers.

RSK: That may be true in New York but in our metro area people are moving to the burbs as fast at a relatively fast pace. The are very few closed factories in these smaller towns surrounding Madison. Take Epic for instance it is thriving. People are driving the 15 to 20 minutes to come to Madison and work from these communities and the major reason is safety and some peace of mind. I live in the city and it takes me 15 to 20 minutes to crawl downtown to work.
