In recent years, major retailers have been forced to close hundreds of stores while searching for strategies to stay competitive and profitable. Many retailers view Amazon and Alibaba as the trailblazers in the e-commerce revolution and have started to emulate elements of their strategy. However, emulating Amazon and Alibaba is not enough for retailers to survive. Retailers will need to look for ways to positively differentiate the buying experience in order to prosper.
