Knoxville Center Mall still plans revival despite Sears departure

There’s a lot of room for change at Knoxville Center.

News Thursday that the mall’s Sears location will close in July is the latest in a long list of departures for the former East Towne Mall, which opened in 1984. But it was no surprise to mall owner Knoxville Partners LLC, according to Patrick King, Knoxville Partners spokesman.


RSK: I have always loved this idea. Why not a residential Plaza on the grounds or above the mall or an anchor stand alone like a Sears. Built in clientele and if medical, grocery and other options are added it would be a win win. Add a hotel and a few more restaurants. A NORC (Naturally Occurring Retirement Center) or even better. Livesey is doing this across the street from West Towne Mall...
